Description

An example of Asturian late Renaissance, this palace was built in the mid-16th century at the behest of Juan de Valdés, the city governor.

The work of the master builder of Oviedo Cathedral, Juan de Cerecedo, and Florentine architect Juan Bautista Portigiani, the building corresponds to a model which was well-established among the Asturian nobility, having a central body between two towers, a square courtyard and a chapel.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe has a single nave with a barrel vault and houses sculptures by Luis Fernández de la Vega.
