Gijon de sidra 240
The cider contest, uniting quality cider and gastronomy, will be celebrated from October 5th to the 15th
The first culín, which is poured at sidrería La Fueya de Tomás, winner of the previous edition, opens the ninth edition of the gastronomy festival Gijón/Xixón de Sidra. This year, the cider contest will be celebrated from Ocotber 5th to the 15th and 45 sidrerías from the city and 41 palos de sidra (types of cider), all of them included in the Denominación de Origen Protegida Sidra de Asturias ( Protected Designation of Origin of Asturias’ Cider).

Each participating establishment has a palo de sidra associated to it, which will be the one served throughout these ten days. Each bottle will be accompanied of a different tapa in each sidrería. The bottle’s price will be 2,70 euros (3,70 for a bottle and a cazuelina and 4,70 for a bottle and a cazuelona).

October 6th, 7th, 11th, 13th and 14th from 20:00 to 24:00, the Sidrobús will be launched, and will make a tour with eleven stops to get the public close to almost all the participating sidrerías.

All the participating sidrerías will appear on the Sidromapa, a guide showing all the proposed routes with the participating sidrerías and their type of cider, as well as the map with the producing llagares (name, location, varieties of produced cider), so it is didactic and the cider tasted can be identified correctly.

Each sidrería will only have the cider from one specific llagar, so it is advisable to follow the whole route to be able to taste all the cider types. Furthermore, for the champions completing the route and saving the corks we have prepared a Master Sidra which will be taught after the contest.
