The Gijón/Xixón Tourism Accessibility Programme has been launched. This programme is promoted by Gijón Calidad Turística with support from PREDIF, Plataforma Representativa Estatal de Personas con Discapacidad Física (or Representative Platform for People with Physical Disabilities).The programme’s objective is to recognize Gijón’s touristic offer for people with disabilities with the international symbol for accessibility. There are 19 companies participating in the first stage of the project in the city.

The programme has several actions destine to recognize Gijón’s touristic offer for people with disabilities with the international symbol for accessibility. This will serve to connect Gijón and the companies and entities adapted with the public that manifests this needs: tourists and residents with disabilities.

19 companies from Gijón are participating in the first stage of the project: hotels, hospitality companies, like Veranes’ Villa Romana, La Campa Torres’ Parque Arqueológico-Natural, Botanic Garden, Gijón Aquarium, or LABCentro de Arte, and other tourism-related sites like Talasoponiente, Palacio de Congresos and Infogijón.

Once the specialized offer has been identified, this will serve to design an itinerary or roadmap of recommended accessible establishments. Furthermore, the participating companies will be promoted through the TUR4all app, the geoportal “Turismo Accesible Para Todos” and the Capa Layar TOUR4all of augmented reality, sponsored by Fundación Vodafone.
