CERES
Our museums are the first in Asturias to join the Red Digital de Colecciones de Museos de España, CER.ES (Digital Network of Spanish Museum Collections)
After the implementation of the Sistema Integrado de Documentación y Gestión Museográfica, DOMUS (Integrated Documentation and Museum Management System), DOMUS, from the Ministry of Culture, the seven municipal museums (Museo Casa Natal de Jovellanos, Museo Nicanor Piñole, Museo del Ferrocarril de Asturias, Muséu del Pueblu d’Asturies, Termas Romanas de Campo Valdés, Villa Romana de Veranes and Parque Arqueológico-Natural de la Campa Torres) are on this network which currently contains information and images about almost 300,000 cultural goods contistuting a great data base of Spanish museums, and it's connected to the European museums’ data base.

This is a great step forward for the cultural promotion of our museums and their collections.

There have been 1,977 catalogue entries uploaded on CER.ES for the first stage alongside their identifying images:

  • 650 museum pieces ( fine arts, archeological, industrial, musical and ethnographic)
  • 907 photographies
  • 320 documents ( posters, engravings)
  • 100 transcriptions of recorded oral traditions

CER.ES allows for general and advances searches, by fields or their combinations, at all the museums and for a specific selection made by the user.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Culture has communicated their satisfaction because Gijón/Xixón is present on this network, allowing all the citizens to access the cultural heritage preserved in the city’s museums.
