The Supervisory Committee from the URBACT Good Practice City initiative has recently selected a total of 219 good practices that merit the URBACT seal of good practices, with Gijón’s City Card amongst them

Some weeks ago we revealed in one of our news that Gijón had proposed three good practices to the URBACT Good Practice City initiative (the Citizen Card, the Youth Activation Agency and the Transparency and Open Government Strategy).

We were told by the Organization on June 5th that our City’s initiative will be awarded with one of the good practices seals for our labour in the implementation and development of the Citizen Card, out of 270 applications presented by 219 cities from all over Europe.

The URBACT Good Practice City seal, beyond the recognition of a good procedure, gives the city the opportunity to become a protagonist in URBACT events and activities (like conferences or workshops), oriented towards consolidating an integrated and sustainable urban development, and sharing the experience received thanks to the seal with other members on the web.

Moreover, and as a novelty this year, those awarded with the URBACT seal will have the chance to compete again in September’s call as leaders in the generated good practices networks.

Thanks to this recognition, Gijón moves forward with his European Strategy.
