  • Thanks to the campaign “GIJÓN, YES MI CAN”, Gijón/Xixón promotes tourism and offers visitors and residents all the information possible to enjoy the city with their mascots.
  • Gijón/Xixón is one of the most pet friendly cities in Spain, with 42 public off-leash dog areas, beaches for mascots, 17 lodgings and dozens of local shops and restaurants that allow dogs on their premises.

The numberof families and couples travelling with their pets, especially dogs, has consistently increased for the last couple of years. Gijón/Xixón steps up to the challenge and offers visitors and residents all the information possible so they can enjoy the city with their pets.

The campaign “GIJÓN, YES MI CAN”, launched by Divertia Gijón, makes the city one of the Spanish cities that offers more services for tourists travelling with their pets. The campaign begins this week and the initiative will be broadcast nationally, especially on social media from neighbouring communities, Madrid and Catalonia. The hash tag used throughout the campaign will be #gijonyesmican

Gijón/Xixónis a city that loves animals, pets, dogs... Thusly, the city has

- 42 public dog areas.

- Starting this year, El Rinconín beach will be open to dogs 12 months ayear.

- San Lorenzo Beach will be accessible between the stairs 2 and 8,whenever is not the bathing season (from November to April).

There are currently 17 lodgings that allow pets in the city, and dozens of local shops and restaurants that allow pets on their premises.

The updated information about these areas can be checked on Gijón dog friendly. The website will be updated as more shops and restaurants register to be shown there. The registration process is open to all newcomers.

Local shops that admit animals, hotels, restaurants, etc., will show on their windows, or wherever they want, an identifying “dog friendly” sticker with a QR code so you have all the information possible.

Moreover,Gijón/Xixón will promote other initiatives to make the city a reference.Divertia Gijón collaborates to celebrate the Espacio Mascotas at Luis Adaro fairgrounds and will promote during this summer FESTIVAL DE CANES, where there will be a party and a parade with famous people from the city, thanks to the help from Asociación el Trasgu.
