Numerous parks with children's playgrounds, greenways for walking or cycling, recreational areas, picnic restaurants, entertaining museums that also organise workshops to make the city's artistic heritage more accessible to its younger visitors... are just some of the resources that families with children can enjoy in Gijón. All this seasoned with a wide-ranging and varied offer in cultural and leisure activities all year round.
Because we like to take care of our youngest visitors, we propose a selection of activities and resources for the "kings and queens" of the household. Who said you can't travel with children?

To do on their own
Throughout the year, the original facilities of the Art and Industrial Creation Centre regularly holds a series of workshops for kids that revolve around theatre, cooking, the Internet, story telling and so on.
Similarly, the Atlantic Botanic Gardens organise a "Passport to Nature", a way of making nature more accessible to children. Workshops for 6 to 12 year olds in which they'll learn to share responsibility for caring for the environment.

At teatime
The sweetest past of Gijón's gastronomy is to be found in its patisseries. "Sweet-toothed Gijón" is a product that invites you to taste the most select desserts of the most emblematic patisseries at more than reasonable prices.

Family enjoyment

  • Talasoponiente has a fantastic aquatic play facility to enjoy more than just a dip in an amazing space. Slides, a cave with a curtain of water, swimming against the current and several pools make up this fun play area.
  • Every Saturday during the school year, the Cinema in Asturias Interpretation Centre puts on films for children. What's more, the activity is free!
  • Gijón Aquarium is one of the city's major centres of attraction for younger visitors. Here, they'll become explorers as well as having the chance to discover how the most striking species –such as the sharks, otters and penguins– are fed, and will even be able to see how it feels to touch a starfish!
  • The Tourist Bus also takes its youngest passengers into account, providing them with a special channel that makes the history of the city more entertaining and accessible.
